MAX BARREL SPEED
There are four parts to Diamond Kinetics’ overall Speed metric – Speed Efficiency, Max Hand Speed, Forward Bat Speed and Max Barrel Speed.
REAL WORLD SIMILARITY: The same principles of using a hammer and a nail also apply to that of a bat and a ball, relative to Max Barrel Speed.
When striking a nail with a hammer, the speed at which the hammer moves determines how far the nail moves. The same is true as it applies to Max Barrel Speed. In order to maximize the exit speed and travel distance of the ball after impact, it is vital that one must achieve Max Barrel Speed at impact.
DK TIP: Max Barrel Speed correlates with Applied Power relative to bat weight. A heavier bat may result in more Applied Power as long as barrel speed is maintained.
